Charles L. Smith was recently appointed to serve on the Iowa State Bar Association’s Commercial and Bankruptcy Law Section Council.

The ISBA is a voluntary organization of more than 8,000 lawyers and judges who are licensed to practice law in the state of Iowa.  The ISBA facilitates growth and collegiality among Iowa attorneys.  It has 23 sections involving more than 250 participating section council members which carry out the work of the association under the guidance of the ISBA Board of Governors.  Sections are made up of members who practice in a particular area of the law, and address issues, including proposing legislation, related to that area of law.

From 2000 to 2006, Smith served on the ISBA Board of Governors and, from 2008 to 2011, he served as Chair of its Commercial and Bankruptcy Law Section.

Smith is the managing partner in the law firm of Telpner Peterson Law Firm, LLP.  His practice focuses on bankruptcy, commercial law, and debtor-creditor relations.
